Share your Google or Trustpilot review link and QR code safely

3 min readUpdated on

A review link takes your customer to the place where they write a review themselves. In the workspace you save one general public page of your business. That link is used in the review email and in a QR code. A personal invitation for one customer does not belong there. Review requests are switched on or off under What you use.

Choose a general public destination

Open Reviews and, under Where would you like reviews?, choose Google, Trustpilot or Other service. The chosen service becomes the Main button in the review email. A second service appears as a Small link below it. One clear button works best.

Paste the link that begins with https://. For Google, use the link to the write-a-review screen, not the link to your profile. A profile link works, but your customer then still has to select Write a review. Cannot access your profile? Find your business in Google’s Place ID Finder and paste the code beginning with ChIJ; the workspace creates the link.

  • For Trustpilot, use your business’s general public link, without a question mark or hash.
  • A personal Trustpilot invitation link is meant for one customer; it is not saved or forwarded.
  • If the link belongs to another site, choose the correct service at the top.

Check what your customer sees

Only choose Connect and start requests once the link is right. Under What your customer sees you read the button and the text as your customer receives them. Also open the link yourself in a private window: you should land on your own business’s public page.

If the destination says it needs checking, choose Change and save the general public link again. Until then nothing is forwarded to that destination. More about asking itself is in Asking for Google reviews (in Dutch).

Download and share the QR code

Under Review QR code, choose Download QR code for Google or Trustpilot. You get an SVG file to print or show on a screen. Every scan opens the same public business page, without personal customer details. The QR code holds no customer name, no personal code and no extra link details.

If you change the link later, download the code again. An old print keeps pointing to the old link. Let customers scan with their own phone. Trustpilot asks businesses not to collect reviews on a device owned by the business.

Keep it fair

Use the QR code the same way for every customer. Do not first ask whether someone is satisfied and give nothing in return for a review: no discount, no gift. Google and Trustpilot prohibit this; reviews collected that way can be removed. The sources are listed at the end of this guide. How the review email itself works is in check and stop review requests.

The workspace shows no stars or scores that were not really fetched. Clicks are visits through the review links; QR scans are not counted there. You read new reviews at the service you chose.

Another question?

Your question goes to Laurens himself. On weekdays from 08:30 to 19:00.

Ask Laurens

No. A scan opens the public page of Google or Trustpilot. Whether someone really publishes a review there is only visible at that service.

Trustpilot asks businesses not to collect reviews on a device owned by the business. Let the customer scan the code with their own phone.

A downloaded code points to the link at the moment of download. Download it again after a change and replace old prints.
